Kyo Sa Nim Dean began Hwa Rang Do training in October of 2000 under Master Kijek and received his Hwa Rang Do Black Sash in April of 2004. Believing it would help enhance speed, strength, mental toughness, and flexibility, Instructor Dean began his martial arts training in a previous art, and with 10 years of experience under his belt, he reached the level of second Dan. Realizing the impact of martial arts, Instructor Dean has been an active participant in many tournaments, seminars, demonstrations, and instructing. After graduating from Madison LaFollette high school, he earned a football and track scholarship to attend St. Cloud State University where he graduated with a B.S. in recreation. Instructor Dean also decided to further his education by attending MATC to earn certification as an EMT-Basic and IV Technician for Ryan Brothers Ambulance. He was a two-time NCAA football All-American as well as receiving try outs from the Packers, Jets, and Browns. A proud father, instructor Dean's hobbies include: outdoor activities with family, movies, music, on-line gaming, teaching TSD/HRD students, and continued training under Master Kijek.
