Instructor Willems began his training in Hwa Rang Do in early 1999 under Master David Kijek and Instructor Ochalla. He attained the rank of 1st degree Black Sash in the fall of 2001 and 2nd degree Black Sash in the Spring of 2006. Instructor Willems has continued his training in Hwa Rang Do under Master Kijek and has attended Seminars with Supreme Grand Master Dr. Joo Bang lee and Chief Master Taejoon Lee. He has also been active in Hwa Rang Do by instructing self defense seminars and participating in demonstrations in the Madison Area.
Prior to training in Hwa Rang Do, Instructor Willems has also trained in Tae Kwon Do and Kempo. Instructor Willems is a graduate of the MATC Police Science program and is currently working at the University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison as a Security Officer. Instructor Willems also has specialized training in Crime Prevention and is an instructor in CPR.
